Professor Getz is best-known as the co-author with Brian M. Carney of Freedom, Inc, which was first published in 2009 with a revised version appearing last year (2016). The book introduced the concept of ‘freedom-based’ or ‘liberated’ company. Based on the field study of several dozen companies, such as W. L. Gore, USAA, Harley Davidson, Sun Hydraulics, Richards Group, IDEO, Chaparral Steel, FAVI, and SOL, it described the role of leaders who are able to build organizational environment based on freedom and responsibility rather than command-and-control.
Isaac Getz has Ph.D.s in Psychology and Management, and has also been a visiting professor at Cornell and Stanford Universities and at the University of Massachusetts.His work has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, The Financial Times and Fortune, as well as on TV and radio. He is an author/co-author of three other books, many articles and op-eds and is an active public speaker.
