While Professor Pete Smith struggles with the laws of climate change at Aberdeen University, his wife, Dr Jo Smith, stays at home and looks after the children. But the next day, she is at the desk they share and he is at home.

Neither of the soil scientists felt they could give up their careers when they decided to have a family. So they solved the problem of who held the baby by pooling their resources at home and in the office.
