For many years graduate recruitment has gone through cycles of lean times and heavy demand. However, more people are now employed in the UK labour force than ever before and this is putting pressure on the demand for skilled and managerial staff.
Larger employers are recognising that they need to project their employer brand more effectively. A recognised employer “qualification” is one means of doing this and will no doubt herald a new era of higher standards in graduate recruiting.
However, will this on its own make a difference? Do employers need to take other positive measures to attract graduate applicants in parallel?
As Chair of the Association of Graduate Recruiters, Alison Hodgson is uniquely placed to give an overview of the strategy of major employers in the face of this tightening market for graduates. We are grateful to her for addressing the Society on this important issue.
We are also grateful to PricewaterhouseCoopers for hosting and sponsoring this event.
