VW boss slams EU red tape

Excessive regulation – much of it emanating from Brussels - is a theme we keep coming back to.

Now Volkswagen Group chairman, Bernd Pischetsrieder, has joined in, blaming EU diesel emission regulations for some of VW's woes and warning that the Eurocrats are in danger of fatally undermining Europe's global competitiveness.

"When it comes to Brussels, it is not creeping, but explosive legislation," he says, "The difference in the cost of a motorcar is going to be in the region of 600 euros."
